Is DID responsible for water problems?
DID is not responsible for domestic or industrial water supply because DID only responsible for the supply of irrigation water for farmers. Please contact the relevant authorities such as the Public Works Department or water companies / institutions responsible for water supply in your area.
To whom should I complain to local drainage problems or flash flood?
DID and local authorities responsible for the respect of drainage. In general the local authority responsible for construction and maintenance of local drainage system which is largely the main drainage and secondary drainage. DID is responsible for the river that might flow in and outside the local authority area. Flooding caused by a clogged sewer drain will fall under the responsibility of local authorities. Flooding caused by overflow of drains and rivers due to inadequate capacity is normally be the responsibility of DID. If in doubt please contact the Communications Officer in the office of DID Perak.
Where can I get data on rainfall and river flows?
This information is published annually by the Hydrology Department of Irrigation and Drainage Branch, located at Headquarters in Jalan Ampang (Tel: 03-4256 2657). Hydrology Department is currently developing a database system known as the Hydrographic Information System (HIS - Hydrologic Information System) capable of providing information online. Can anyone apply to use of land designated as "Rizab Sungai"?
In general DID does not encourage applications for use of our river reserves because we need to enter at any time for emergency repairs and for maintenance of river. However, we may consider certain applications on a case by case. Please contact with our officers for more information.
How can I request a pedestrian bridge?
DID often receive requests to build a pedestrian bridge or bridge traffic light facilities for local residents. Please write a letter to the Communications Officer / Corporate DID Perak. When writing to us, please include your address and phone number.
Who do I complain about the problems of river pollution?
We appreciate information about the reasons and sources of river pollution. DID is not authority for the enforcement of pollution control, we will typically inform the matter to the Department of Environment to enforcement action.
To whom I complained about the garbage that clog the drain?
Please refer this matter to the local authorities concerned who are responsible for maintenance of these drains.
To whom I report about squatters occupying river reserve?
If you see squatters began occupying river reserve, and cause pollution and river pollution, you may contact DID Perak State immediately. DID will contact the relevant authority to move the squatters as soon as possible.
